This 1993 book is all
about the resilience of women after divorce, even those who were the
left
and not the leaver. Hayes and Blau acknowledge the crushing economic
blow that divorce often deals to women, especially women who divorce in
their 40's and later. What they go on to describe is the neat little secret
about women after divorce: although they are often poorer, at least in
the traditional sense, they tend to be happier. Their categorization of
women is a little gimmicky, but the essential truth of their research comes
through well. This book is inspiring, genuine, and readable.
Unfortunately, it's getting harder to find.
