About Lee and Amanda Borden

Okay, we admit it: we're tree-huggers. Hey, we're proud of it; there are plenty of people we like to hug, and when it comes to taking care of the planet, trees have a better track record than we humans do. But we're not just tree-huggers; we're also peak oil and population planners as well.

Dr. Amanda Welch Borden is an associate professor in the Communication Studies Department at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where her research and teaching focus is intercultural communication. Amanda is bilingual (English and French) and is on her way to becoming tri (studying Spanish). Her present and more precise research focus is the extent to which travel abroad, living abroad, and working side by side with persons of another culture changes the way we view that culture and our intercultural competence in general.
