When someone has 30 days to respond, does this count weekends and holidays? Does that mean postmarked (like the IRS
) or received by the other party? Thanks for any info.

Generally means 30 calendar days from the date of the notice.
example - notice is dated March 1, 2007. They have until March 31, 2007 to respond - which means file something with the court.

Thanks. I am assuming that the day actually served is where the counting begins. I'm just trying to plan out my calendar. It's been 17 days with no response. Of course, we're not asking much except change in visitation because of the travelling and change in child support because there have been so many income changes, so hopefully it will go smoothly without court time involved. That would be soooooo great.

Don't get too focused on the 30 days. If your spouse petitions the court on the 35th day to allow the filing of an answer, there's a really good chance the court will allow it. So take a chill pill, friend.
