I was served with divorce papers on February 3 and given 30 days to respond to a lot of questions that mostly did not concern me(lawyer says its just a form questionnaire). We answered the questions that we could and returned it on February 19 along with questions of our own, including  property removed from the residence.  Here's the question.... My stbx and her attorney asked for a court date of March 2 without responding to our questions. My lawyer asked for a continuance because the questions had not been answered  and he had not had prep time. What does it mean to ask for a court date that quick? Should that be some kind of signal?  By the way my lawyer's secretary informed me of this today 3/8 when I paid his retainer.

I would hope the judge would have no interest in moving forward with a trial date that leaves one of you more informed than the other about the facts at issue. It sounds like your lawyer is on the right track. Good luck with your case.
