My husband filed for personal bankruptcy, Chpt 13 last year.  He has two more years to pay off the reduced debt.  He says the sale of our house will trigger the bankruptcy court and force both of us to pay off all the originial debt from the proceeds of the house.  I want to know if this is true?  My lawyer doesn't know. I filed for divorce six months ago but cannot be separated until the house is sold. Does anyone have any knowlege on this subject?

Get a different lawyer.  If a lawyer doesn't know an answer, he or she should at least know where to look to get the answer.
