We have only been in Alabama since 12/17/05.  Can we file a legal separation now in Alabama?  Or do we have to wait 6 months? Do we have to wait the 6 months to file Divorce Papers, or is it just 6 months until they become "good"?  We recently moved here from Louisiana.  Are there any Katrina provisions that might help us move it along?  I am about to buy a house and do not want her name associated with it.  We have been seperated, unofficially I guess, for some time now.  The divorce will be uncontested with minor children.

Thanks for any help,

Eddie

If both spouses live in Alabama, there's no requirement that you wait six months.
