Honestly? After the first time, I wouldn't have left any of that stuff sitting there.
Really? And where would you suggest I keep my tools?
You should keep them in your tighty whitey's where the rest of the men keep their tools.

No biggy, I'm sure y'all got bigger problems than this.
Everyone's problems are big to us if they are big to themselves. I know money doesn't just grow on trees. Can you secure the equipment in your vehicle?
No, my truck is already full of company tools. The saw they stole was pretty big. I thought about chaining it to the stand, but they took the saw, and left the stand that actually has Wheels on it
Morons!
I'll survive the monetary loss, it just makes me so damn angry that I'm working so friggen hard on a house that I don't even want, that I probably can't sell......and these f'ers can't leave my shit alone. Excuse my French.
I need to shoot somebody...........

Sluggo,
I know you'll recover from the robbery and the added financial burden - of that I have no doubt. It is a horrible violation to have our homes invaded.
I think maybe what you might be feeling is a lot about that stupid house and all it represents, the fact that you were building that house for your stbx and how she betrayed you and left you to sort it all out on your own. How sometimes it must just feel like Sisyphus pushing that rock interminably up that hill in some sort of hellish purgatory. But the difference between you and Sisyphus is that someday you'll get to the top of that mountain and feel a sense of accomplishment and relief. And you'll complete it because you have the intelligence, the heart, the strength, and the skill to complete the job.
I've often heard you refer to the house as the "Ark" and perhaps it is your ark in that like Noah you must blindly trust in God's plan, and complete what must seem somedays like the monumental task he's set out before you. But trust and work you must to complete it before you can see what next steps He has for you. Seems unfair I know but God only sets out for us challenges He knows we are worthy of. And I believe you are extremely worthy.

Storage locker? Where you live now? See if you can store them at work? Sorry to have pissed you off.

Sometimes even the best guarded homes get broken into. Do the police have any clues?
NC your response speaks to me as well as a few others I can think of. Who were here and now only stop in now and again. One man north of us, built his house like Sluggo for his wife and she left with another man. It wasn't an easy task but I do believe he wasn't working either so it went together a little easier for him. The relief he felt when he finished it was immense and the sense of accomplishment drove his low self esteem to the heights it needed to be. It would be nice to hear if he remained there or sold and moved.
Sluggo it's not just the fact you've lost your motivation to complete this house, you've had severe stumbling blocks along the way. You needed to focus on your boys and their security in their parents needed to remain firm. That focus was far more important then and now. You accomplished that with style and then you focused on your x to make sure there would be some peace between you. That was also accomplished with style. You have taken care of soo many others during this time when you've been fraught with emotional turmoil. Then added injury to the mix and then the insult of robbery. Geez man, it's not like you haven't been thru 'life' during this whole ordeal.
I hope the police can shed some light and find the thieves. They obviously are not going to stop and you undoubtedly are not their only victim.
Your insurance should pick up the claim without any difficulties. I really wish you some peace for you and am glad this is the worst of your troubles. Time to start filling your cup back up with amazing wonderful things happening to and for you.

Sluggo, I'm so sorry, it is so terribly unfair. I hope the insurance company does right by you, and quickly.

I was feeling hopefull about the insurance, until I remembered the $1000 deductable...
Total loss won't be much more than that, unless I find more stuff missing. Like I said, I'll survive, I just saved up for this thing for quite a.while. As far as police, there is none. We have two Sherriff deputies that rotate in and out, and don't spend too much time worrying about minor robberies. Which is why most people have guns.......Cam understands
To.answer your question, M_T, the house is the same place I live (same property ), 2 separate buildings, both have now been broken into. The tool they took is too big to move back and forth (30 miles) to work, and Home everytime I need it....especially with a broken leg.
Truth is, I just need to finish this thing, get it sold, eat the loss and start over. Before I lose my mind.......
I hear many people find it very rewarding to work well into their 80's........

I am really sorry you're having to go through this. I know exactly where you're coming from with the PD thing. Last time I was robbed, all the stuff that was stolen didn't even make it into their report.

My pop-up camper which has been parked in the same spot 21 years got stolen & recovered during our ordeal. Drug addict who graduated HS with my daughter & who's father is the biggest electrical contractor in this county. We didn't know when we paid $125 for the towing when they seized it that it was trashed inside. Mattresses ripped & shredded, holes in the canvas, parts of the frame work & towing cover just gone & etc. He doesn't know who he stole it from. He was told about it by another person. NOT that he'd have cared. Don't know if we can get restitution but it was MINE had it just been a coathanger & he had no right to it.
I understand how you feel. IF they want what you have, no camera or anything will protest your interest. We may as well toss all locks & keys. They just make them tear our stuff up more.
