Earlier in the month I met with an attorney to get two quit claim deeds drawn up and a bill of sale for my truck, per my divorce decree. I also inquired about a bill I was ordered to pay which my ex said was a medical bill for me in court, but once I got the bill and looked at it,after the decree was final, it was a bill for my daughter. My attorney adivsed me to pay it for now, but keep account of the "misrepresentation" and when or if we go back to court, bring it up. I openly discussed this with my ex, via phone and he had no comment other than send the deeds to his parents to forward to him ( he doesn't let me know where he is). When I recieved my alimony check it was shorted the amount of the medical bill, and a copy of the decree was included with the item where I was to pay the bill highlighted and a copy of a check for the amount included to show that it had been paid. (However, stupid doesn't realize just because the check is written, doesn't prove it's paid. He should have included a cleared check form. I can write a check and throw it away, doesn't mean I paid it.) It was dated for the beginning of the month, two weeks BEFORE I had talked to him about it and told him I was going to pay it, although I disputed the origin of it. To top it all off the new wife wrote all the checks and addressed the envelope and forged his signature on both checks (her name is not on the account), so it can be argued that he may not know about it.
What really burns me up is that he has crappy insurance on the kids with a high $1000 deductible per child on any and all non routine dr visits or meds and I have about $1000 in bills between my two that I was just going to pay myself and not rock the boat with asking him for anything. When I mentioned that I was having to pay a lot of bills he told me it was my fault as some of the visits were out of network, which they are not. He also owes me $1500 from a tax refund where the IRS took money from my single return for a joint debt and our decree states that we are responsible for half the debt, which he says since I paid it two weeks before court it was no longer "indebtedness" and he doesn't have to pay it. It makes me want to send him the medical bills and a bill for the IRS money with a highlighted divorce decree. It never pays to be nice.
