I have been told by my wife she wants divorce but she wants it to be uncontested.  WWe have 7 yr old which we agree on joint custody 2 days weekly + every other weekend or whenever we agree.   We own a house and 2nd moortgage valued at 200,000.  We have 2 cars one paid one not.  2 CDs in bank. A few other assests, TV, washer dryer, etc.

Anyway I am on disability and receive a check for my daughter and myself $1745 for me and $920 for her.

I would like to know if I have to give the 920 to my wife by direct deposit every month into her acct or if it is to my disgression of how money is to be spent.

She is not greedy and neither am I.  I just would like to know what is the best way to make sure my daughter's money is not spent friviously and also want to make sure there is not something I can try to do to try to live on an income that was jointly $5000 and is now $1745?  She seems to be getting it all.

What else can I try to get her to agree on that will help me in the present and the future.

If the money for your daughter is viewed as "support" there is no way you can control how your stbx spends said money.

I am not sure if there is any way you can keep the money in your own acocunts...maybe someone else will have an idea on that one.

As for padding your own nest...best to discuss with an attorney, but you might be in line for spousal support from your stbx if you want to go that route....although I can almost guarantee that if you take that road, this divorce quickly becomes hottly contested and expensive.
