Ex and I each took a CC in the divorce decree and I got mine paid off is less than a year. He said he was going to pay the one he had off but then backed out and said he didn't have too since divorce decree had not specify date to have to pay it off by. He only pays the minimun each month. Would I have to get a lawyer and go back to court to get a specific date set? I just want it taken care of so that nothing is left in his hands on my credit report.

You can try, but imo, so long as he is making payments, you cannot dictate a date by which he has to have it paid off.  I cannot imagine any court supporting that request.

Unless he is late or it is a large amount affect your credit to debt ratio, then you may be able to go back, but if he is on time.....and it's not so much.  I wouldn't worry about it.  But I would stay on top of it to make sure he is timely.

Unless the decree said he had to pay it off by some date certain, his obligation is generally simply to make current payments. If he is doing that, you generally don't have much chance of getting the judge's attention. Because you're an obligor, you have the right to check the account online as often as you want to. Just get in the happen of checking it each month and then move on.

and maybe if HE knows that YOU know the status and are checking into HIS personal life, he might get on with making payments or taking over the account.

Can you contact the bank and see if they'll use the decree to take you off the account?
