balance of debt distribution ?

If we have x amount on the mortgage and it is paid off with the sale of part of the property , then how is the balance of debt distributed ?   I have no income other than the maintenance he pays every two weeks .  Thank you cam

I would have that put in the divorce papers. I would think that if nothing is said it would become money owned by both of you prior to the divorce, for either of you (whoevers the fastest) to do with as you will.

I know in my case.  It weighed heavily and the ability to earn.  And the ability to pay.  Which I couldn't pay much.  Some stuff was split 60/40 as for possitive assets, and then some credit card stuff was split in half, and then we both got to keep what ever vehicle we had, and then he got to pay half of my lawyer bill, because he has the ability to earn and the ability to pay..
