When determining the amount of child support that I need to pay, does a joint custody situation affect that calculation?  If I have the children 50% of the time, am I still required to pay her as if she is the custodial parent?

Is the determination of custodial parent in a joint custody situation just up to us or are there guidelines to follow?

Thanks in advance to you guys.

The designation of "joint custody" as such has no impact on child support. If the child will be spending substantially more time with the NCP than that provided by standard visitation, however, the judge has discretion to reduce child support in accordance with the schedule. If the child will be spending equal time with each parent, Rule 32 contemplates that the court will calculate child support as if the child is living with Mom, then calculate it as if the child were living with Dad, then net the difference.
