Do you handle cases using the fee waiver forms? I plan to use your services if I can get this nightmare of an adoption behind me. STBX says he'll totally cooporate but I'll believe it when I see it.

No, I'm sorry, I don't. My practice is all about keeping the cost of divorce low, and you would think that I would use the fee waiver to accomplish that purpose. In practice, however, that has not been the case. The typical rosponse of most judges to a request for a fee waiver is to set it for a hearing. At my hourly rate, it costs more than the filing fee to travel to the court and defend the fee waiver request. Thanks for asking, though.

I think it might make sense for a pro se (not using a lawyer) litigant, or a litigant using legal services. Legal services may have several cases set the same day and be able to defend the fee waiver request at a lower cost.
