Hi, my name is Joann and I am new. I had a concern about an issue with my divorce that I would like to maybe get some advise on. I've been divorce since 1993, and in my divorce, it's written that I will get 35% of my ex husband's pension, also it states that I could have the money in one lump sum at any time I wanted. A few years ago, I notified the retirement plan and was told I had to wait until my ex husband retired. That was fine if that's the way the plan is written, but since then I recieved a letter from the retirement plan saying that the claus for me to wiat for him to retire had been lifted (?). My question is, since I never took the money out, does it collect interest? Is there any way I can find out how much money there is? If I need to wait until he retires, is there anyway I can find out how much per month I will be recieving?
Thank you for any help anyone can give...
Sincerely,
Joann

Please go to your divorce decree and post the exact wording of the clause from it relating to your Ex's retirement plan. And while you're gathering that, please tell us what you know about the retirement plan. Is it a defined contribution plan or a defined benefit plan? If you're not familiar with these terms, read this page: http://www.divorceinfo.com/retirementplans.htm#DefinedContributionPlans.
