How To Deliver Documents to Lee

If you need to deliver original documents to Lee Borden, feel free to use ordinary mail. It's cost-effective, it's fast, and it's far more reliable than the culture realizes. I've never had anything I sent or received by mail actually lost. I've heard a lot of people use mail service as an excuse, but I've never had the Postal Service actually lose anything.

Please don't use certified mail. I have no staff; it's just me and a bunch of machines. There's no secretary sitting around the office waiting to sign for things when my mail carrier brings them by. So if I'm away from the office when the carrier brings your package, delivery will get delayed. If you just don't feel comfortable using the mail, use FedEx or UPS. They need a signature, but my next-door neighbor can sign for it, and I'll pick it up when I get back.

If you're in the neighborhood and want to bring documents by, feel free to do that. There's no need to call me to make sure I'll be in the office; that will just cost you more money. Instead, seal your envelope, punch a small hole in it, and hang it on one of the two hooks just underneath the mailbox just outside my office door. Your documents will be safe on the hook. If I don't make it by at least once each of the 365 days, I have a trusted friend who collects documents and holds them for safekeeping until I get back.

If there are documents that need to be notarized, I can notarize them for you, but I will need to meet with you (at extra cost) and watch you sign them. It's almost always more cost effective to go by a bank, credit union, UPS store, or insurance office. They usually have notaries there.

If you leave documents outside my office, you should avoid calling me to "make sure I got it" (costs extra money). Instead, keep an eye on Clients.divorceinfo.com, where I will update your record to show that I have received your documents and that they are ready to send to the court.
