The Borden FamilyWelcome to the Borden family, where the women are strong, the men are smart enough to have married them, and all the children are above average. Really. My wife Amanda and I have been happily married for 32 years, and we have two wonderful children, Joe and Adrian. You can even find out about our Worthless Yellow Lab if you want to. I'm the fourth of four boys. My oldest brother Tom has just retired from his CPA practice at Aldridge, Borden & Co. in Montgomery, Alabama. He's the least selfish of the brothers. My next brother Ruffin is a systems analyst for International Paper Co. in Memphis. He's the smartest. My next brother Dave (we in the family call him Dave Gray) is also a CPA, also at Aldridge, Borden & Co. in Montgomery. Dave Gray has the best people skills in the family and is the most successful professionally. I'm the baby, and I'm the happiest. My father, who died in 1994, was also a CPA (is this getting monotonous?). My mother, who died 10 years later in 2004, was a bookkeeper and dear friend to all her sons. Tom is married to Martha Lynn Lusk from Fruitdale, a suburb of Chatom (sort of near Mobile). Martha Lynn has also retired from teaching in the Montgomery public schools and takes care of her grandchildren. Tom could be tough as a father, but he's pure gooshy love with his grandbabies. It's fun to watch. Tom's oldest son, my nephew Mark Borden, is a CPA at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Houston, and his wife Ashley is a part-time CPA turned homemaker and full-time mother (you just thought it was getting monotonous). Mark and Ashley have a son named Harrison and twins named Ben and Anna. Tom's daughter (my niece) Jennifer Cater is a homemaker in Montgomery, and her husband Rod works for Alabama Power Company. Rod and Jennifer have a daughter named Borden and a son named Jack. Ruffin is married to the former Cathy Herrington from Montgomery. Cathy teaches special education in North Mississippi, where Ruffin and Cathy live. Ruffin's and Cathy's oldest daughter Brooke and her husband Anthony live in Millbrook, AL with their son Bryce. Anthony works at International Paper, the same company where Ruffin works. Ruffin's and Cathy's younger daughter Blakely and her husband Hunter Williams live in Huntsville, where Hunter works. Dave Gray is married to Lynda Pruitt from Birmingham. Dave Gray and Lynda have three children; Kara has a degree from Wake Forest University and is in graduate school at the University of Illinois in Chicago working on a PhD in environmental biology, Gray and his wife Alexia have finished law school at the University (that's the way we Bordens describe the University of Alabama). Gray is an associate at Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC, and Alexia is an associate at Balch & Bingham LLP in Birmingham. Skye is working and living in Montgomery, Dave Gray and Lynda live on a farm south of Montgomery, and Lynda's parents live nearby. Lynda's father Dykes is the most prolific tomato grower in the South (at least we think so). |
