Alabama Child Care RatesWhen you're figuring child support in Alabama and either of you is paying for child care, there are limits on the amount you can use for purposes of the child support calculations. Here are the limits for Alabama. Your first step is to find your county in Alabama, which will tell you the child care cost area that's relevant to you. To my knowledge, nobody's written down or ruled on this, but if you're litigating in one county and the children are living in another, I would assume that the relevant area is where the children live, not where the litigation is occurring. What happens if the children live in one area but the child care is in another? I don't have a clue. If you and the other parent want to fight about that question, have at it. Once you know your child care cost area, look next for the kind of care your child receives, either at a Child Care Center (licensed to serve more than 12 children), a Group Facility Day Care (licensed to serve 7 to 12 children), or a Family Day Care Center (licensed to serve 1 to 6 children).
The source for these tables is the Alabama Department of Human Resources, and the figures are updated effective in the fall of 2005. This is one of many pages here on Divorceinfo.com designed to help people get through divorce in Alabama. Click here to see the other resources available. |
